Is The Drought Stressing You Out? - Kristy H. Campbell
The July 5, 2007 U.S. Drought Monitor for Tennessee shows that the majority of our state is suffering from a Severe to Extreme Drought. Depending on where in Tennessee you live and farm, and whom you ask, this is the worst drought in 10 years or 125 years. It is difficult to know when the drought-ending rains will come. In the meantime, you might enjoy brief showers that offer some relief, but it is vital that we do not simply wait on the moisture. As overwhelming as it is, now is the time to deal with the situation at hand and plan for the worst.
This newsletter, produced by Kristy Campbell, Dairy Extension Specialist, contains steps you can take in the short term to ensure your cows and farm survive this drought, with the prayer that next year will be better.
